One of the most beautiful villages in the province of Namur is undoubtedly Crupet. This tiny village is hidden in the Namur Condroz, in the valley of the river Crupet of the same name. The 12th-century Saint Martin's Church of Crupet, overshadowed by an impressive lime tree, contains a beautiful tombstone of the Lords of Crupet. Their castle, surrounded by a moat, has a lovely keep with half-timbering.
But the biggest attraction is undoubtedly the impressive Saint Anthony's Cave. This artificial cave, inaugurated in 1903, is the masterpiece of the local pastor Gérard. Over 300 tons of stones were needed to build the structure! The cave tells the story of the life of Saint Anthony, using lifelike figures. The devout pastor also found a place in the ensemble: on the street side, one can observe his statue in adoration of Saint Anthony. And as a thank you for such an attraction, his grave was later bricked up in the cave.
