Saint Anne's Chapel

Chapel shaded by linden trees from 1746. It was reportedly established during a period of contagious illness as a stop on the pilgrimage route from Deerlijk to Bottelare. Anchored whitewashed brick building on a raised plinth, with two bays under a gable roof (tiles). The façade features a baroque-inclined top and a crowning triangular pediment. Pointed arch door in brick framing with ears and a curved water table with a crowning semicircular niche for a saint statue. To the left and right of this, protruding black-painted brick year numbers 17/46. Round oculus with wrought ironwork, under a red-painted water table under a triangular pediment with a heart-shaped anchor at the top. Identical oculi in the side walls. Furnishings. Marbled baroque altar (18th century) dedicated to Saint Anne with a polychrome stone statue of Saint Anne with the Virgin (18th century), a polychrome wooden statue of an adoring angel with a palm branch, a wrought iron candle crown dated 176(0), and an 18th-century candlestick.
