The Schipperskerkje is a former church located in the place of Leupegem, which belongs to the East Flanders municipality of Oudenaarde, situated at Armenlos 3.4 and 6. The origin of this church dates back to at least the 11th century. Eventually, a three-nave Gothic church was built in the mid-16th century. This was destroyed several times and was rebuilt in Renaissance style on old foundations in 1645. In 1651 or 1652, the church burned down. In 1669, the church was used as a hospital for the French army. Although the church was later beautified, such as in 1713 when the ceiling was plastered with Louis XIV decorations. Ultimately, the last mass was held in 1792, after which the church was used as a storage place for coal.
