The mudel (Museum of Deinze and the Leie region) consists of two parts: a collection of plastic arts and a folklore department, which also pays attention to archaeological finds and the history of local industry. A unique museum with a unique collection - definitely worth a visit.

Since the last quarter of the 19th century, the Leie region has attracted many artists. The museum offers a chronological overview of their production, allowing you to follow the evolution of the movements closely. The collection includes works by great names such as Emile Claus, Albert Saverys, Constant Permeke, George Minne, Gustave Van De Woestijne, and Roger Raveel.

In the folklore section of the museum, you will learn more about the two industries that dominated the economic life in Deinze. In the late 1840s, Joseph Ricard, a businessman from Lyon, started a silk weaving factory in Deinze: the starting signal for an industry that would bring great prosperity to the city until the rise of artificial silk in the 1920s.

At the end of the 19th century, a completely new industry emerged in Deinze: the production of baby carriages and toys. Especially the company Torck gained great fame both at home and abroad thanks to their pedal carts: toy car models scaled down for children that are powered by pedals. Torck produces very high-quality toys, using expensive materials like wood and steel. The rise of cheaper plastic ultimately led to the company's demise: in 1971, it had to close its doors.
