Kasteel van Schiplaken

On the border between Hever and Schiplaken is the "Kasteel van Schiplaken", which can be reached via a pretty driveway.
The castle itself was built after the First World War, while the separate U-shaped service buildings date from the 18th and 19th centuries. On the right is a neo-traditional building. A magnificent central wing in a sober neoclassical style; a whitewashed brick building, punctuated by wall pilasters and recessed brick sections of the wall and covered with a hipped roof (tiles); Arched central door and rectangular windows fitted later.
A single-storey left wing under a tiled gabled roof, dating from 1734; Brick and sandstone building on rubble stone base. Arched doorway in a frame with harped uprights hollowed out in a groove from a triangle, transoms dated "Anno / 1734", keystone and drip moulding ending in spirals; oval dormer with transoms and keystone. Similar but partially closed door on the left. Braiding and shoulders in the side gables and on the right, two semi-circular lintels.
