Spoilbank Cemetery (1915 -1918)

Spoilbank Cemetery is a British military cemetery containing casualties from the First World War, located in the Belgian village of Zillebeke, a suburb of Ypres. It is situated 2,250 meters southwest of the village center, and 3,400 meters south of the Ypres Market Square. The cemetery was designed by Edwin Lutyens in collaboration with William Cowlishaw. The site has an irregular shape covering an area of 4,160 m² and is surrounded by a brick wall. The Cross of Sacrifice stands against the northern wall, directly opposite the entrance. The cemetery is located on the edge of the provincial domain De Palingbeek and is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. One hundred and fifty meters northeast lies the Chester Farm Cemetery.

There are 520 dead, of which 125 could not be identified.
