The road to Passchendaele

The Road to Passchendaele is a railway that provided a connection to the front during World War I. Canadians, Australians, and other nationalities of the Commonwealth traveled along this railway to Passchendaele to fight against the Germans. The railway passes by places that each hold special significance in the history of the World War. Ninety years after the Third Battle of Ypres, this connection also gains tourist importance. Along the route, there are monuments dedicated to the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, which were unveiled in the presence of the Forum on October 6, 2007. The memorials commemorate the Australian Walk that took place on October 4, 1917, by the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The starting point of the line to Passchendaele is Zonnebeke.
