Vorst Park

Although only a small strip of the park lies within the municipality of Sint-Gillis, its official name until World War I was 'Park van Sint-Gillis'. This municipality had more inhabitants and prestige than the still very rural Vorst at that time. The park was part of the urban planning of Leopold II. The goal was to preserve the view of the Zenne valley. And also to create a green buffer, together with the further Dudenpark, between the working-class neighborhoods of Lower Sint-Gillis and Lower Vorst, and the residential developments higher up the slope. At the same time, the park served as a place of recreation and clean air for all residents. Today, the park is an important habitat for both native and exotic fauna and flora. A large colony of monk parakeets lives in the tall conifers at the edge, spread over several communal nests. The restoration of the paths and lawns is still ongoing.

→Follow the path until you see the chalet of the Park of Vorst on your left. We take the path on the right to exit the park. Cross Villalaan and continue on Clementinalaan.
