The old Rosen tower

Set back in a garden, the Rosen tower has been owned by the family of the same name since the 17th century. It is a remarkable fortified house built from a core likely dating from the 16th century, based on the date of 1516 engraved on a chimney on the ground floor. Until 1870, it was accessible by a drawbridge spanning the moats.
The oldest part is located to the right. It retains three levels of rubble stone framed by corner quoins. The door is characterized by its 18th-century molded surround. The fortified house was enlarged, probably around 1690 (?), in brick and limestone, to form a building with an elongated plan. Comprising four levels and two bays, the façade is flanked by corner quoins. It is pierced with cross windows with chained jambs, the transoms and supports of the top level extended into string courses. The building is covered, on a cornice with scrolled brackets, by a hipped slate roof with dormers at the hips. Flanking the tower, two annexes were added in the early 20th century in a style imitating that of the 17th century.
Listed as a monument on December 2, 1959.
