Diesvelthoeve

Diesveldstraat no. 42. Hoeve Diesvelt. Historically important farmhouse, in the 14th century center of the seigneury of the same name. Loan, dependent on the Oudenaarde's fiefdom of the count's fiefdom, De Stenen Man. The lords of Diesvelt were directly accountable to the Count of Flanders. The history of the farm and the lords goes back to the 14th century. Previously, there was also a castle on the site, the only remnant of which is said to be a pillar in the basement. Indicated on the Ferraris map (1770-1778) as "Chateau Distvelt", several buildings are shown within a rampart. On the Atlas der Buurtwegen (ca. 1846) with recognizable configuration and moat indicated as "Chateau de Biesveld". Currently a farmhouse with a semi-closed layout. Red brick buildings under tiled gable roofs, grouped around a concrete yard. Northern driveway marked by a brick bridge and in core 18th-century gatehouse with attached stable wing. Stable with rectangular wall opening with negro blocks of Tournai stone. The heavily modified gatehouse bears the coat of arms of the van den Broucke family, owners of the buildings from 1699 to 1765. Renovated house to the southeast, barn to the southwest and former stable wing, now garage to the northeast. The ramparts were only preserved to the south and west.
