Originally, there was a calvary cross at the site of the Cross Chapel, but after five miraculous healings occurred, a chapel was built in 1750. By the end of the 19th century, it had to give way to the widening of the Cross Street, and in 1900, the current chapel was built. It is designed in neo-Gothic style according to a plan by Izegem architect Jules Vercoutere. Inside, you can still see the original cross. Until the 1960s, people from the surrounding area came here on New Year's Eve at midnight to pray for a prosperous year.
