The confluence area of the Kleine Nete and the Aa

The anchorage 'Confluence area of the Kleine Nete and Aa with the western foothills of the Kempische Heuvelrug' includes the stream valleys of the Aa and the Kleine Nete located between the village centres of Grobbendonk, Vorselaar and Herentals, the interfluvium higher between the two rivers and the grounds of the former British military base to the south of it. The combination of the wet, open alluvial stream valleys with the intervening and adjacent higher elevation, mainly wooded sandy soils, creates a striking landscape diversity. The subsoil, the soil, the relief and the water management form the basis of this still relatively intact Kempen landscape.
