Farm Lordship of Heule

Lauwsestraat no. 152. Historic farm so-called "Heerlijkheid van Heule". Centre of the lordship of Heule, held by the Castle of Kortrijk. Oldest mention in a loan book of 1365. In the land book of the lordship of Drooghendriesch (1748) depicted as a completely walled farm with loose components and with clearly distinguishable gatehouse. Indicated on the Ferraris map (1770-1778) with square walls. On the Atlas of Local Roads (1843), referred to as Ferme Berton and with eight-shaped ramparts. Today, the ramparts were preserved only to the south of the farmhouse. Semi-closed farmhouse with unpaved yard. Anchored brick components under tiled gable roofs. Southeast of the yard, more or less secluded farmhouse, which was rebuilt in 1921 but may date back to 1753. Anchored brick construction of one to two storeys under cutting tiled gable roofs. Three right bays ascending in gable with braids. Arched wall openings under relief arch of red brick. Barred lower windows. To the west, 18th-century gatehouse with perpendicular adjoining wagon house, now converted into an office. Side facades with braids. To the east double transverse barn dated 1733 and with central heart motif, cf. vitrified brick heads. The upper part of the barn was rebuilt ca. 1920. Partly destroyed by fire at the end of 2001. To the north and west heavily renovated 18th-century stable wings with renewed interiors.
