The St. John’s Church is the parish church of the village of Maldingen, which belongs to the municipality of Burg-Reuland in Liège.
Already in the 11th century, Maldingen had a chapel, which had the tithe rights held by the Lord of Thommen. In 1776, a new chapel was built. This fell into disrepair and was also too small. In 1926, a new, larger church was built according to the design of Henri Cunibert.
