Eupen Beer Brewery

The origins of the company lie in the Delhougne brewery, founded in 1834 by Johann Bartholomäus Delhougne, which had its headquarters at Paveestraße 12–14. In 1897 it merged with the Körfer'sche Brauerei, formerly Warlimont in Borngasse, to form the Eupen Beer Brewery and the brewing operation in Borngasse was discontinued. In 1908, new fermentation and storage tanks were purchased and the brewery was able to record a significant increase in sales by the beginning of the First World War. This changed when Eupen became Belgian after the war. As a result, the region around Aachen was no longer part of the sales area and new markets had to be opened up in Belgium. From 1923 the company was registered as a public limited company under Belgian law. During the 1930s, the technology was further modernized and the production facility was enlarged. Immediately after the Second World War, about 10,000 hl were emitted annually, but the brand became increasingly popular.
