This corner building stood empty for years until the successful combination of trendy bar Plein Publiek and an exhibition space was conceived. The wide avenue at the bottom of the Kunstberg is actually the roof of the Jonction, the North-South railway connection. A bit further to the right, you can see the Central Station, whose six platforms lie underground. This railway connection running through the city has literally caused a trail of destruction in the center. Indeed, many neighborhoods were demolished to lay the train tracks underground, creating a wide trench. That trench was then filled in again, and numerous offices were built on top. As a result, the Jonction represents a break in the city where there is life only from Monday to Friday, during working hours.
