The Colébi is one of the most well-known and remarkable ravines in Wallonia. Located on the right bank of the Meuse, south of Dinant, it constitutes a true canyon that cuts perpendicularly into the Condroz plateau for nearly 600 meters in length. The site presents multiple interests. Geologically, one can note the existence of pools, or 'potholes', that have been carved over the ages by vortex erosion when the Falmignoul stream still ran at the bottom of the ravine. The biotopes are very diverse and contrasting. Thus, on the south-facing slope, one can admire, among the boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) and thorny bushes, some calcareous grasslands where the rare monkey orchid (Orchis simia), the globularia (Globularia bisnagarica), and other uncommon plants grow. The north-facing slope, on the other hand, is occupied by a magnificent ravine maple grove rich in ferns like the maidenhair fern (Asplenium scolopendrium), very characteristic of this type of forest.
Public Access: Access possible from the Anseremme-Falmignoul road (plateau) or from the path along the right bank of the Meuse (valley). Difficult circulation, even impossible at some spots.
Type: Site of Great Biological Interest (SGIB)
