Monastery of Saint Andrew of Clerlande

The monastery of Clerlande was founded in 1970 in Ottignies by the Abbey of Saint-André de Zevenkerke-Bruges, at the time of the establishment of the Catholic University in Louvain-la-Neuve. On the hillside, in the wood of Lauzelle, the architect Jean Cosse and Fr. Frédéric Debuyst have designed, in a setting of Scots pines, a "monastery-house", which has become over the years a small hamlet. For the brothers who live there as well as for guests or visitors, the monastery is an island of interiority and welcome, solitude and encounter.

All guests who come to the monastery will be received like Christ, for he said, "I asked for hospitality and you received me." (R.B.53). The monastery welcomes anyone wishing to enjoy the withdrawal and calm for a time of reflection, spiritual research or rest in harmony with the life of the community. The monks favor a simple and friendly welcome in the respect of personal convictions and a discreet conviviality. The hotel has 7 single or couple rooms and 5 rooms for young people. Guests take their meals in the refectory of the brothers which can accommodate a maximum of 15 people. They participate in the times of prayer of the community if they wish.
