Windmill in Leefdael

It is a mill house above the door dated "anno 1752" with an older core on the stream De Motte with a preserved mill and lockwork.

It was already depicted on the Album de Croy from the 17th century. The mill house was rebuilt in the 18th century and the second half of the 19th century. The work dates from the end of the 19th century and was brought over from Wallonia.

It is a brick building, parallel to the street and the stream, of one storey and six bays. It has two sandstone-framed doors with pitch-arched fanlight in a provincial transitional form to the Louis XV style, four shuttered cross-windows with sandstone surrounds and three dormer windows. The whole has a slate gable roof, and the side gables are finished with braiding and shoulder pieces. To the north is an L-shaped brick building (barn?), with a gate along the street side.

The mill consists of two pairs of stones (artificial stone), with wooden stone box with frameworks consisting of wooden semicircular posts. The wooden gallows with iron screw and dome has been preserved, only remnants of the shutterwork have been preserved. The stones are driven by a chandelier, which is set in motion by orthogonally rotating conical wheels of cast iron, the vertical wheel of which is the water wheel (comb or camp wheel). The wheels were constructed and placed in such a way that iron acts on wooden combs. The whole moves in a cast-iron chair, consisting mainly of four columns on which rests a stone bed with an underdrive. The torques are engaged with a screw system
