Monument to the fallen of October 1918

In the attempt to cross the Schipdonk Canal near Landegem during the final offensive of 1918, 210 Belgian soldiers lost their lives during or a few days after those battles between October 20 and November 2. On the honorary site of the cemetery in Landegem, 24 of them are buried, while the others received a grave in their hometown. In August 2018, a monument was erected on the bank of the Schipdonk Canal in Landegem (Brouwerijstraat) for these forgotten fallen soldiers. A plate made of corten steel depicts the attack plan in stylized form. At the base of the monument, there is a drawer containing the list with the short biographies of the 210 fallen soldiers.
