Verviers platform

The Verviers perron is a monument erected on the fountain in the Market Square, in front of the town hall, at the center of the city of Verviers, in the province of Liège, Belgium. The fountain and the perron have been classified since March 15, 1934. A first perron was granted to the city of Verviers by Prince-Bishop Érard de La Marck in 1534. After a restoration carried out in 1561, it was replaced by the current perron, a symbol of communal freedoms, and the fountain in 1732 under the administration of Prince-Bishop Georges-Louis de Berghes. On the eastern face of the fountain, a double bronze door had been decorated since 1732 with the coat of arms of the Prince-Bishop of Berghes and the mayors Simonis and Delmotte, but it was removed during the Belgian Revolution of 1830 and replaced with a double wooden door.
