Arosa

It was here in a mountain cabin in Arosa that Schroedinge discovered his famous wave equation equation. Schroedinger was stuck and decided to spend some time in seclusion at a mountain cabin in Arosa accompanied by one of his mistresses. Schrödinger had an open marriage with Annemarie Bertel, daughter of a respected chemist. And he had several mistresses. He kept a detailed log of his numerous sexual escapades, included a teen-aged girl he seduced and impregnated while acting as her math tutor. He had children by at least three of his mistresses, including a daughter by Hilde March, the wife of his colleague Arthur March, who was himself a lover of Schrödinger's wife.

Anyway, romantic seclusion in this mountain cabin did the trick: He cracked the problem in January 1926, and then he published his wave equation for a hydrogen-like atom and also a series of four papers that year applying his equation to various other systems. Einstein stated that Schroedinger’s wave equation is considered one of the most important physics breakthroughs of the 20th century, complementing rather than contradicting the matrix model developed by Werner Heisenberg around the same time.
