At Hammersee in the Schlaubetal Nature Park, south of Kupferhammer and east of Grunow, lies the settlement of Siehdichum. Until June 30, 1993, it was an independent locality, then it became part of Schernsdorf, and since the incorporation of Schernsdorf, the new municipality of Siehdichum in Brandenburg has emerged, named after this small settlement.
The name Siehdichum was first mentioned in the year 1780. It is said to have once been a sign at the hunting lodge: Here, look around!, as the area is located in a swamp and moorland. However, it is also possible to interpret that Siehdichum is a derivation of the Low German Sydikum. Sudicum is also documented from the years 1587 and 1588 as Su Diek ume. It is likely that the name of the Social Democratic Reichstag representative Albert Südekum is also of this origin. It was quite common in the past to give unusual names to farms, hunting lodges, or other estates to ward off harm from them. Another interpretation sees the name in connection with the 106th letter of Bernard of Clairvaux Experto crede: aliquid amplius invenies in silvis, quam in libris. Ligna et lapides docebunt te, quod a magistris audire non possis.
