Tantow is a municipality in the district of Uckermark in the far northeast of Brandenburg. It belongs to the office of Gartz, which is located in the eponymous town.
Tantow is situated in the elongated valley of the Landgraben, which runs parallel between the glacial valleys of the Oder and Randow. The Salveybach drains the Landgraben from Tantow in a southeast direction to the Westoder near Gartz. The agriculturally intensively used land in the municipal area is characterized by low end moraines along the Landgraben. Apart from small lakes and ponds in the depressions, the approximately 35 ha large Schlosssee with the nature conservation-protected island in the district of Damitzow is noteworthy. The nearest larger towns are Schwedt/Oder and Prenzlau, located 30 km and 35 km away, respectively. To the west, the municipal area is bordered by the Vorpommern-Greifswald district.
