The Uckermark community of Grünow is located immediately east of the district town of Prenzlau in a ground moraine area that spreads between the parallel valleys of the Ucker and Randow. The hilly region is characterized by many small lakes and ponds, as well as by intensive agriculture.
The village is located by the Grünower Lake. To the southwest of the village are the North and South Koppelsee, further southwest are the Moosbruch lakes in the district of Moosbruch.
