Großolbersdorf

The church of Großolbersdorf is the main church of the Evangelical-Lutheran congregation of Großolbersdorf in Saxony, including the towns of Großolbersdorf, Hohndorf, Hopfgarten, Grünau, and Scharfenstein.
The church is located in the center of the town on the western end of a small ridge that crosses the town from east to west. The currently used cemetery, which contains the grave of Karl Stülpner, is located at the eastern end of this ridge, approximately 250 meters away. This has existed since the 16th century, but was initially used only rarely. Since 1867, no burials have taken place in the area around the church. The church grounds feature a monument for the fallen of World War I and the remnants of a monument for the victims of the Franco-Prussian War.
