The bells of Cologne Cathedral are one of the largest and historically most significant cathedral bell sets, whose uniqueness lies in the assembly of eleven very characteristic bells.
The fundamental pillar of the cathedral's bells is the Peter bell, cast in 1923, weighing around 24 tons; it is one of the largest swinging bells in the world. With the delivery of its predecessor during World War I, the so-called Emperor bell from 1874, as well as the break and fall of the clapper in 2011, it has a special history.
