Sweet Lake

Süße See is a lake in the Mansfeld-Südharz district, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. He is fed by the Evil Seven, which leaves him at Seeburg in the direction of Bindersee. Since the draining of the Salty Lake at the end of the 19th century, of which only Kernersee and Bindersee remained, the Sweet Lake has been the largest natural standing water in the Mansfeld-Südharz district. Contrary to what the name indicates, the lake water is salty, as with the other Mansfeld lakes that still exist or have been drained.
From the mouth of the Böse Sieben to its outlet, the lake is 4.9 km long, at its widest point near Aseleben it is just under 1 km wide. The circumference is 11.76 km, the area is about 250 ha. It is a maximum depth of 7 m, but on average 4.3 m. The body of water is elongated in shape and tapers to a point on the west side.
