Haselstein

The Haselstein is a 447.9 m above sea level elevation in the Berglen region of central Baden-Württemberg and is located just under a kilometer northwest of the center of Winnenden-Breuningsweiler, right above the valley of the Zipfelbach.

The Haselstein itself stands lower on a north-northwest outcrop of the Buocher Höhe plateau, which reaches its highest point of 519.6 m above sea level at the water tower of the namesake and central place Buoch. In between, the cap of the Großer Rossberg rises to 512 m above sea level. The Haselstein is forested on its cap and on the northeastern slope, while the lower slopes from the southwest to west and in the north are covered with vineyards. There in the north, they cover a much lower outcrop of the even flatter summit of the Kleiner Rossberg. At the top on the south side of the Haselstein stands a disused quarry with a 50-meter-long and up to 12-meter-high extraction wall in the lower Stuben sandstone. It served as a climbing area until 2003 but was closed afterward due to rockfalls.
