House Bisping is a water castle near Rinkerode in the Münsterland, a district of Drensteinfurt.
In the 14th century, Friedrich von Norentin bought House Bisping from Herman von Velen. In his will from 1418, both of his sons, Johann and Hermann, are bequeathed the house. Johann sold his share of the house in 1428. Hermann's daughter Hilberta married Caspar von Frydag of Buddenberg and the house came into the possession of the Frydag family.
In the 16th century, one finds Jasper Frydag (Vridag), lord of Aden, Schörling, and Bisping, who was married to Clara Balster from Büren to Davensberg and Elisabeth von Wickede. His third daughter from the first marriage, Clara, was the heir to Bisping. She first married Caspar (Ludeke) Valcke of Rocholl and then Bernd von Wolff of Füchteln [1] (or von Wulff called Lüdinghausen [2]). Bernarda, her daughter from the second marriage, married Dietrich von Galen of Vellinghausen, and thus the castle came into the possession of the von Galen family.
