Haus Borg is a moated castle near Rinkerode, Münsterland, a district of Drensteinfurt. It is privately owned and can only be visited from the surrounding streets. In sight is the Bisping House, which is only partially preserved.
House Borg was the ancestral seat of the Lords of Rinkerode, first mentioned in 1209. With the marriage of the heiress daughter of Gerwin IV of Rinkerode to the noble lord Diedrich von Volmarstein in 1324, the House of Borg passed to this family. In 1466 the castle passed to the Münster patrician and hereditary Johann von Kerckerinck. It remained in the family until 1988, when it was sold to the industrialist Dreier from Dortmund. Josef Freiherr von Kerckerinck zur Borg, a shark lover and diver, is the only member of the family who still has a lifelong right of residence in the Pictorius building of the castle and lives there for a few months of the year.
