Memmingen Clinic

The clinic was created by the merger of the former district hospital with the city hospital. Since 2004, the clinic has been an academic teaching hospital of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. It is the second largest clinic in the administrative district of Swabia in Bavaria and has 14 main departments, eight dialysis spots, 500 beds, and employs about 1,700 staff. Recently, 23,900 patients were treated as inpatients and about 71,100 patients were treated as outpatients. In 2018, there were 2,108 births, and over 5,500 dialysis treatments were performed.

The clinic is operated by the city of Memmingen. Since January 1, 2020, the clinic has been a municipal enterprise of the city of Memmingen. The city council is currently discussing the future of the clinic, as the current building complex has aged and, despite two extensive renovations and expansions, no longer meets today's figures and requirements. There are significant space problems, especially in the emergency department and the central operating room. The lack of parking is also heavily criticized.
