The Dreimühlen waterfall, also called the Nohner waterfall or Drömmeler Spröetz, is not so much special because of its size, but because this waterfall grows a little every year, it is a special natural object and a well-known attraction in the Eifel.
The Dreimühlen waterfall was created in 1912.Due to the construction of a railway, the three sources of the Ahrbach had to be diverted and so the creation of the waterfall began.
The three streams of the Ahrbach that "feed" the Dreimühlen waterfall are rich in calcium and carbonated. This creates the so-called carbon sinter rock. This rock is soft and porous, which makes it easy for moss to grow. This moss petrifies and in this way the waterfall grows between 8 and 10 centimeters annually.
The waterfall now protrudes about nine meters and the fall of the water is about 5 meters. Due to a crack that is visible, it is feared that a piece will break off. However, this is not a disaster because the waterfall continues to grow.
In 1938, the Dreimühler waterfall was placed on the list of natural monuments.
