Ludgerusweg

Widely visible landmarks are the church towers in the Münsterland. Magnificent churches, quiet monasteries, and picturesque chapels characterize the image of the region. This also applies to the hilly Baumberge through which the Ludgerusweg runs. The 30 km long hiking trail connects the Tilbeck monastery south of Havixbeck with the district town of Coesfeld, via Billerbeck.

In the footsteps of Saint Ludgerus

Saint Ludgerus was not only the first bishop of Münster, but he also significantly influenced the spread of faith. On the hike, you follow in the footsteps of faith. The Ludgerusweg passes numerous historical wayside crosses, statues, and churches. Sights such as the sandstone museum in Havixbeck, the picturesque old town of Nottuln, and the Longinus Tower are connected to the main path by a total of 14 marked access routes. You shouldn't miss a visit to the Cathedral of Billerbeck and the picturesque Kolvenburg (directly along the route). 42 information panels along the main path and access routes show the right way and describe the sights along the way.

Magnificent natural landscapes and wide views over the Münsterland make the Ludgerusweg particularly attractive. The gentle hills with their trees, lush meadows and pastures, and numerous small streams are typical for this part of the Münsterland.
