Ruppiner Clinics

The Ruppiner Clinics are a hospital for specialized care in the town of Neuruppin in Brandenburg. Since the founding of the Medical University of Brandenburg on October 28, 2014, the municipal hospital, alongside the Municipal Clinic Brandenburg in Brandenburg an der Havel and the Immanuel Clinic Bernau Heart Center Brandenburg in Bernau near Berlin, has become one of the three university hospitals or sponsoring hospitals of the university. Furthermore, the Ruppiner Clinics served as an academic teaching hospital of the Berlin Charité.

In 1892, the Province of Brandenburg decided to build a healing and care institution on Treskower Berg along the road to Fehrbellin south of the town. The architects were Franz Peveling, Gustav Bluth, and Theodor Goecke. Right in front of the main building facing Fehrbelliner Straße, a park was created from which there was a direct view of Lake Ruppin. Initially, the newly founded institution had a tuberculosis department solely for women. In 1901, the institution added two hospitals with 240 beds, and the following year a tuberculosis department for men was opened. In this context, a lounge hall was added to the south side of the corresponding building. In 1905, the complex was further expanded with two hospitals containing 120 beds. The opening of a modern laboratory followed.
