Flak battery Schortens

The heavy flak battery Schortens was a fortified position of the naval flak in the west of Wilhelmshaven during World War II.
The flak battery Schortens was located on Schooster Straße directly west of Fort Schortens, which was built during World War I. It was situated on the eastern edge of Schortens towards Schoost. The battery consisted of four gun high bunkers arranged around a central command post, which, however, was not used. To the east, between the facility and the fort, there was a machine bunker with a 2-cm flak position. To the west, between command post 2 and the battery, there was a bunker with a 2-cm flak quadruple. Command post 2 was located about 80 meters west of the bunker battery. Even further west was the position of a Würzburg-type radar. North of the battery was a canteen building with a common room. The infantry fort in the old fort was used as a munition bunker.
