Friedrichsfeld is the youngest district of the town of Voerde in the district of Wesel in North Rhine-Westphalia and has 11,409 inhabitants. Until 1922, the village was a district of the municipality of Spellen and officially called itself "Oberemmelsum". In addition to the Protestant and Catholic congregations, the Sultan Ahmet Mosque and the New Apostolic congregation contribute to religious diversity. The Wesel-Datteln Canal is the border to Wesel, in which the Friedrichsfeld lock is located, which geographically belongs to the district of Emmelsum. Furthermore, Friedrichsfeld has the Gymnasium Voerde and a primary school.
