Climb the observation tower on Melchenberg. This is one of the few transmission towers for mobile communications that features an observation platform. The 60 m high steel structure has an observation platform at a height of 30 m, which is accessible via 168 steps.

Due to its fantastic location at 162 m above sea level, on a clear day it offers a magnificent view over the municipality of Reken, as far as the Ruhr area and to Münster. Discover the Gerleve Monastery, the Baumberge mountains, the Hohe Mark, the two towers of the University Hospital in Münster, or Dorsten and behind them the vast industrial areas in Gelsenkirchen Scholven! In optimal weather conditions, you can see up to 50 km away!

A pair of binoculars on the observation platform, which points south and can be swivelled by about 180 degrees, allows you to view sights up close. The use is free for you!
During the winter months, the observation tower is occasionally closed due to the risk of ice slicks. Enjoy Reken and the surrounding area from above again unrestrictedly from spring, daily from sunrise to sunset.
Why not combine your visit to the observation tower with a walk in the adjacent forest area? Here you will find an idyllic patch of earth in the midst of the Hohe Mark Nature Park with well-marked hiking trails.
