Dump Losheide

The mouth of the Datteln-Hamm Canal into the Dortmund-Ems Canal is flanked by two spoil heaps. The southern one is the Löringhof spoil heap and landfill, while on the northern side is the Losheide spoil heap.

This one is named after the eponymous community and is located directly opposite the spoil heap Emscher-Lippe III / IV described above. At the feet of both spoil heaps flows the Ölmühlenbach, which is channeled under the canal. Already greened in the 1990s, the spoil heap was expanded again after the turn of the millennium and now covers an area of about 9 hectares.

It rises about 17 meters above the surrounding area, making it approximately 70 meters above sea level. The younger part in the north can be easily identified by its low vegetation.
