For more than two hundred years, Catalans have been building castells, human towers formed by men, women, and children who support each other on their shoulders and reach up to ten levels high. This unique tradition is a testament to excellent teamwork. Between June and October, you can admire castells at all the city’s festivals, but for a true spectacle, you must be in Tarragona. Between June 24 and September 24, a Castells show is held almost daily.
If you want to see the best castellers in the world at work, you should also go to Tarragona. After all, every two years the Concurso Castell is held, a competition in which the best Castell teams compete against each other in a true spectacle.
