Old cemetery Cementerio Parroquial de Olvera - Andalusia

The Olvera Cemetery is located at the highest point of the municipality. She is in the fortress.

The location in a well-ventilated area must have been the main reason for not building a cemetery outside the walls, as required by law.

The entrance to this peculiar cemetery is through a gate leading to a covered passageway between two houses, a sort of hall for entering the cemetery. In this corridor there are two benches for the visitors. Behind this corridor are the tombs and mausoleums , made in different types of marble. The oldest niches are made of stone, sand and lime and the newest of cement and brick.

The parish cemetery of Olvera has won the Cemeteries of Spain 2019 competition in the best cemetery category.
