Venasque

The picturesque Venasque sits at the top of a steep rock that dominates the valley of the Nesque and the Plain of Carpentras. It is one of the oldest villages in the Comtat Venaissin, to which it gave its name and is one of the 126 villages of the association "Les plus beaux villages de France".
Many memories of his old glory are still intact and the oldest buildings of the village are classified as the very beautiful baptistery, one of the oldest religious buildings in the region.
From the forecourt on the Sarasen towers you have a panoramic view of the Comtat Venaissin up to the Dentelles de Montmirail and the Mont Ventoux.
Around the village you will find some ruins of the fortifications that once surrounded the whole village and in the surrounding fields there are some beautiful chapels that you can discover during a walk in the area.
