Lagord is a western French municipality with 7,098 inhabitants in the Charente-Maritime department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It belongs to the La Rochelle arrondissement and the Lagord canton. The inhabitants refer to themselves as Lagordaise or Lagordais. The D104 departmental road leading north from La Rochelle runs through the municipality. Along the southern border of the municipality is the highway-like N237 national road, which leads to the bridge that crosses the strait to the Île de Ré island. Just outside the southwestern boundary of the municipality is the La Rochelle - Île de Ré airport.
