The Catholic parish church and former collegiate church of Notre-Dame in Beaune, a town in the Côte-d'Or department in the French region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, ranks among the great Romanesque church buildings of the so-called Cluniac style, like the Cathedral of Saint-Lazare in Autun or the Church of St. Andoche in Saulieu, which were erected in the 12th century under the Bishop of Autun, Étienne de Bagé, in Burgundy. In 1840, the church was listed as a Monument historique in the list of historical monuments in France, followed in 1926 by the former canonry buildings, which today house the parish office, and the cloister. In 1958, the church was elevated to the status of Basilica minor by Pope Pius XII.
