The Bagneux castle in Bournan is a fortified castle whose construction dates from the 13th to the 15th century. It was registered in 1927 as a Historic Monument. This estate has borne the names of: Baniolus, Banneoli, Baigneux, and Bagneux de Bournan, Bagneux, Bagneux Castle. This ancient fief was part of the Sainte-Maure castle. Guillaume de Beygnoux, or de Bagneux, was its first known lord and lived in 1331. The construction of the fortress was done on a square base with four enclosing towers, two of which are truncated. The remaining two towers have a conical slate roof known as "in poivrière" and have retained their machicolations. Its mullioned windows pierced in the towers and the facade show the link between its military use and that of pleasure.
