Geispolsheim is a picturesque town which has kept the aspect of a big rural village with whole streets lined with big timber-framed farms. These houses date for the most part from the 18th and 19th centuries and their characteristic architecture does not lack charm. Do not hesitate to walk around the streets of Général-de-Gaulle, Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc and Maréchal-Leclerc. There are beautiful alignments of 18th and 19th century houses. Along the facades facing the inner courtyard, one can see beautiful wooden galleries, typical of the region. Rare are the villages where the houses have so many corner beams decorated with inscriptions. At 19 rue des Moines, one of the oldest houses in the Alsace plain has been preserved (15th century). The four corner posts run in a single line from the base to the roof, a technique that was not used until the middle of the 16th century.
