The origins of Quatzenheim date back to 742, when the Germanic tribe of Chaten gave it the name Chattenheim. Subsequent names include "Quazzinheim" (1224), "Quaccenheim" (1251) and "Quaczenheim" (1371). From 1127 to 1322, various lords took possession of the estate. One of them, Walter von Müllenheim, built a castle here, which was burnt down and completely destroyed after the Battle of Entzheim in 1674. In the 16th century, the Landsbergs (who became Protestants - Dietrich von Landsperg having introduced the Reformation in 1539), then by right of heredity the Ratsamhausens and finally the nobles of Oberkirch (Baden) bought the village in 1714 and were its sole owners until the French Revolution.
The church contains gravestones from the Von Landsberg, Von Bock and Oberkirch families.
Jews settled in Quatzenheim as early as the end of the 17th century (1677); in 1781, over 70 Jews lived here, representing more than a third of the population at the time, and in 1875, half. Significant traces of their presence in the village near Strasbourg, where they did business, remain.
As in most Protestant villages, stone carvings of sayings and the names and/or initials of the couple who built the farmhouse adorn the gates and doors.
