With its 3 surface blocks (all of which can be visited), including 2 combat blocks, this infantry fortress of the Maginot Line was the guardian of the Rohrbach plateau.
During your visit, you'll discover a veritable small town buried under 25 meters of limestone, with all the equipment necessary for the life of the 176 men in the fortress. During the two-hour tour, you'll be guided through the barracks and ammunition bunkers to the combat block, where you'll take part in the maneuvering of a 135-ton turret. You'll relive the life of the concrete soldiers, from mobilization to the events of 1940 and the signing of the armistice. Undaunted, the Fort stopped fighting on government orders.
Outside, take a stroll along the footpath linking the entrance and fighting blocks, and enjoy the calm and beauty of the landscape.
Reduced entry fee on presentation of Simserhof Fort admission ticket.
