On November 17, 2015 a strong, shallow earthquake (Mw = 6.5) occurred on the island of Lefkada along a N20 ± 5°E, east-dipping strike-slip fault with right-lateral sense of slip. The macroseismic epicenter (VIII up to IX) was located at the coastal area of Egremnoi (west of Athani village, south Lefkada). As you can see on this video taken just after the earthquake of 2015, there are a lot of landslides and debris coming from the steep slopes. But all around the island you will find small landslides and rock falls along the beaches and roads. This indicates the very dynamic geomorphological processes taking place on this island.
