In this house, located in via Boccaccio, the writer and poet Giovanni Boccaccio lived until his death in 1375. The house was bought in the early 19th century and restored by the Countess Carlotta Lenzoni de' Medici, who herself was a poet. and therefore had a large fresco painting made in one of the salons. During the 2nd World War, the building was almost completely destroyed, but the fresco was miraculously preserved. After the war, Casa Boccaccio was rebuilt and turned into a museum-library.
On the ground floor you get information about the life and works of the writer on the basis of, among other things, a film. On the 1st floor is the library and a fresco painting from the early 19th century dedicated to Boccaccio. On the 2nd floor there is a closed loggia from which it is possible to climb the tower from where you get a nice view over Certaldo alto and the surrounding area.
